John Cena and Ric Flair are both 16-time world champions. While it’s difficult to imagine The Nature Boy returning to the ring and securing another world championship, The Champ is currently working with Titanland and in good form to become the world champion for the 17th time.

It so happens that insider account BWE made a revelation that showcases WWE’s stance on The Champ breaking Ric Flair’s record. The Leader of Cenation becoming the world champion for the 17th time is an actual floating idea with the creative team apparently.

“There has always been discussion about John Cena breaking Ric Flair’s record and obtaining his 17th title. Now we are waiting for the possibility, and ability of John Cena to continue giving.”

However, there are certain reports that claim The Champ does not want to break The Nature Boy's record, whereas Ric Flair is all for it.

“There’s so much respect. They look at each other and see the generational talent, right? Sometimes records or streaks should be broken. Ric’s all for it. John isn’t. He doesn’t want it.”

Currently, the 16-time world champion isn’t a part of a title storyline. The WWE Universe did assume The Champ would be the one to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship when he returns, but The Champ acknowledged The Tribal Chief, and then introduced LA Knight as the challenger. Furthermore, Cena is possibly working with WWE full-time only until the Hollywood writers’ strike is resolved. If he becomes a world champion, it will mean committing to the title, and ensuring he shows up for the matches and segments as would be expected from a 17-time world champion.

It won’t be the easiest for him to juggle being the world champion, while shooting Hollywood movies, considering both have different locations.

John Cena and Ric Flair have another connection

The two megastars of WWE have amassed a huge fandom through their pro-wrestling careers. To ensure they remain perched at the top of the roster, they have put in the hard work with their fitness routine, continuous practice, and remaining focused.

While speaking on The Breakfast Club podcast, The Nature Boy revealed the connection Cena and he share in terms of their fitness routines.

"I would never be worried about getting tired because I was always in better shape. So, I actually got myself in as good a shape as I was in 1974. I was doing 500 free squats and stuff like that, push-ups. [I still work out to this day] when I'm home. I've been gone quite a bit, but I go up and train with John Cena's trainer, Rob."

Currently, John Cena is working alongside the top babyfaces of WWE in an attempt to crumble The Bloodline once and for all.
