What's the story?
WWE's 205 Live features some of the best cruiserweight matches that you'll find in professional wrestling, and John Cena feels the same way, apparently. In fact, Cena is high on the show as a whole.
In case you didn't know...
205 Live is WWE's cruiserweight-only program. Led by current Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy and his longtime rival Cedric Alexander, the Purple Brand puts on incredible matches every week. Taped prior to SmackDown Live on Tuesday nights, it's shown on the WWE Network every Wednesday at 7 pm ET.
A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.
205 Live's diverse roster features talents that boast all kinds of styles. If you're a fan of hard-hitting powerhouses, Buddy Murphy and Tony Nese are the way to go. Like a more submission based style?
Drew Gulak and TJP have made many a man tap out on Wednesday nights. Maybe brawling is more your style. If so, Jack Gallagher, Akira Tozawa, and Hideo Itami will leave their opponents bruised and broken on the mat.
The fact that 205 Live gives cruiserweights of all different looks and styles a chance to shine is what makes it can't miss every week, and John Cena agrees.
The heart of the matter
Jack Gallagher posted a tweet today where John Cena talked about his admiration for 205 Live. While next to Ariya Daivari and Drew Gulak, the former 16-time Champion complimented the roster for their hard work and dedication to sports entertainment, even if it took the WWE Universe a little while to come around.
I hope this isn't taking away cool factor points from 205 Live, but I think it's incredible. For the longest time, it was always thought that you had to be a certain build or have a certain type of personality to make an impact. What I love about 205 Live is all of you guys were given a chance to break that stereotype, and it's working.
Cena tackled the struggle that stars on 205 Live faced in the early years of the show. The cruiserweights were mainly ignored by most of the WWE Universe until the reboot in January. However, since then, the show has held multiple Match of the Year candidate bouts throughout the year, and the cruiserweights have won over the WWE Universe.
What's next?
205 Live has continued to earn the respect of the fans, and at the Royal Rumble, the cruiserweights may steal the show. A Fatal-4-Way is set to take place for the Cruiserweight Championship. Buddy Murphy will defend his title against Akira Tozawa, Kalisto, and either Cedric Alexander of Hideo Itami. The last slot in the match will be filled on this week's episode of 205 Live.
