As the year ends and 2025 approaches, fans gear up for John Cena's retirement run. The Champ returned earlier at Money in the Bank 2024 to announce his Farewell Tour, which will begin in January and last for 12 months.
No official announcement has been made about Cena's return, but WrestleVotes provided a rough layout and mentioned a few opponents planned for the 16-time World Champion.
#3. Randy Orton has been heavily rumored to face John Cena at WrestleMania 41

During his emotional address at Money in the Bank 2024, John Cena confirmed that WrestleMania 41 would be his last as an in-ring competitor. With no intentions of wrestling at The Show of Shows upon retirement, fans want Cena's last 'Mania match to feel extra special.
Randy Orton is the most popular candidate to fill that role. Orton and Cena are close friends backstage and have a healthy respect for each other. But, onscreen, they were fierce rivals during the height of The PG Era. Their story has been likened to the Stone Cold Steve Austin-The Rock saga.
Much like The Great One battled The Texas Rattlesnake in the latter's farewell 'Mania match (discounting Austin coming out of retirement to face Kevin Owens), fans want The Franchise Player and The Viper to revive their rivalry at The Showcase of The Immortals.
During a Live Q&A with Bill Apter and WrestleVotes on Backstage Pass, WrestleVotes mentioned Randy Orton's name when asked about potential opponents for Cena, suggesting that WWE plans to have the two legends battle again.
#2. CM Punk
Along with Orton, WrestleVotes also listed CM Punk as a future opponent for John Cena. Punk vs. Cena was one of the hottest rivalries in 2011, and The Straight Edge Superstar's career took off from that point.
The Second City Saint and The Greatest of All Time, at least in Michael Cole's opinion, have tremendous chemistry together. They brought the best out of each other at Money in the Bank 2011 and could replicate the same magic in 2025.
Punk has also previously expressed his desire to participate in Cena's Retirement Tour. Facing him one last time would be a great contribution to The Champs's farewell run.
#1. Logan Paul could also face John Cena
WrestleVotes also predicted that John Cena would battle Logan Paul during his upcoming Farewell Tour. Unlike the other names mentioned on this list, Paul would be a fresh opponent for the 16-time World Champion, as they are yet to cross paths in a WWE ring.
The Maverick and The Doctor of Thuganomics are two of the most recognizable names in the entertainment industry. A potential dream clash between the two megastars has tremendous marketing value and could main event a Saudi Arabia Premium Live Event.
The promos would be excellent, and given Paul's work as an in-ring performer, the match could also be an entertainment fest.
