The man has his own set of haters, many of them, but that won’t change one important fact though. He is a Champion and is definitely the face of WWE. There is one more fact that people won’t be able to change for a long long time to come – he is the most liked active American athlete on Facebook.
Lebron James, the Miami Heat forward is at the second spot with 19.67 million likes, whereas fellow NBA star Kobe Bryant comes a close third with 19.5 million likes. But Cena is the only active U.S athlete to have already surpassed the 20 million mark and currently has 27.8 million likes to his official Facebook account. Considering the kind of hate he receives, this stat may surprise his detractors.
He made his WWE debut in 2002 and came up against Kurt Angle in his very first match. Fans worldwide still remember that epic moment when he stood up to Kurt, and they ended up having a great match which Cena recently recollected and called it the best in his career.
After Cena, The Undertaker comes second among the WWE fraternity with 12 million likes. Even though ‘The Phenom’ isn’t active in the ring, he is still contracted to the company. It once again reiterates the fact that without a doubt, Cena is still the top man in the business despite the emergence of Daniel Bryan and Brock’ Lesnar’s impact since his comeback, and people relate to him more than they do with any other superstar.
Cena’s popularity also stems from the fact he involves himself in a lof of charity compared to some of the other athletes around him.
He is currently a 14 time World Champion, and is one of the leading contenders to headline this year’s Summerslam with the WWE title being vacant. He is part of the group who have qualified for the ‘Money In The Bank ladder’ match.
