John Cena is preparing for his retirement tour, which will start with the RAW premiere on Netflix on Monday, January 6, 2025. The tour will last 12 months, during which The Cenation Leader will work the majority of premium live events and many episodes of RAW and SmackDown before retiring from wrestling in December 2025.
Still, his retirement tour might include one more stop, not in WWE, but in TNA this time. Should this happen, the TNA World Championship will be on the line, with Joe Hendry sending an invitation to the 16-time World Champion.
Joe Hendry could become TNA World Champion this weekend and challenge John Cena to a match
Joe Hendry will look to dethrone Nic Nemeth (fka Dolph Ziggler) this Saturday at Bound for Glory and become the new TNA World Champion.
Hendry, who made several appearances on NXT, has teased debuting at the 2025 Royal Rumble. To add more hype to it, he could challenge John Cena, putting the TNA World Championship on the line.
If this happens, it will be the biggest moment in WWE's and TNA's partnership, which started a few months ago.
He could help bring a bigger audience to TNA
The partnership between WWE and TNA opened the way for TNA stars, like Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace and Joe Hendry, to move to WWE and get title opportunities on NXT. However, only the Stamford-based company has arguably benefited from this partnership, attracting a bigger audience.
On the other hand, if a megastar like John Cena makes a few appearances on TNA and competes in a big-time match with Joe Hendry, it would help make TNA a bigger product and attract a bigger audience.
It could open the way for TNA stars to appear at the Royal Rumble
With Jordynne Grace and Joe Hendry getting title opportunities on NXT, if John Cena shows up on TNA, it could allow TNA stars to show up at the Royal Rumble and confront The Cenation Leader.
As the 16-time World Champion is set to work the Royal Rumble Premium Live Event one last time before retirement, it could open the way for more TNA stars to show up and make a statement.
