According to Marty Garner, John Laurinaitis never wanted him to work for WWE again after his inbox became inundated with emails from the wrestler's fans.

Garner, also known as Cham-Pain, wrestled for WWE between 1994 and 1998. In the mid-2000s, he created an online blog and sent it to wrestling newsletters. The site quickly gained 100,000 visitors and drew the attention of Laurinaitis, a WWE talent relations executive at the time.

On the Cheap Heat Productions Podcast, Garner recalled a conversation he had with Laurinaitis after fans started a "Hire Cham-Pain" campaign on the internet. The former WWE official allegedly received 300 to 500 emails per day, prompting him to get in touch with Garner:

"He [John Laurinaitis] said, 'Well, I don't wanna ever see you again. If you come to a show, I'll have you arrested.' I said, 'Johnny, I'm just trying to get an F-ing job.' That was back when I used to curse all the time – I don't curse anymore. He goes, 'Now you're cursing at a senior official of WWE.' I said, 'Johnny, I'm not cursing at you. I'm cursing about the situation.'" [40:42 – 41:02]

Although Garner made sporadic WWE appearances between 2006 and 2008, he did not join the company on a permanent basis. His final match ended in defeat against Vladimir Kozlov on the April 25, 2008, episode of SmackDown.

Why John Laurinaitis did not want to hire Marty Garner

Before the online campaign began, Marty Garner asked John Laurinaitis how he could improve his chances of getting a job in WWE.

Vince McMahon's former right-hand man allegedly refused to watch Garner's wrestling tapes. He also told the former WWE enhancement talent he could not draw money:

"I said, 'I just wanna work here,'" Garner explained. "He goes, 'Marty, you want me to be honest with you?' I said, 'Absolutely.' He said, 'We don't think we can make any money with you.' I said, 'Oh, really? You never heard my promos, have you? I can get that crowd so hyped up and so hot. You never watched any of those tapes I sent you, Johnny?' He goes, 'I don't have time to watch tapes.'" [36:59 – 37:20]

In the same interview, Garner addressed claims that he tried to sue WWE after receiving a botched Pedigree from Triple H.
