At this point, the momentum is greatly in the favor of Keith Lee. Since last November, Lee has made it clear that he has the ability to be on the main event on Raw or SmackDown. At the 2019 Survivor Series, Lee had a "coming of age" moment after lasting to the end of the match before losing to Roman Reigns. This was undoubtedly a breakout moment for Lee, and was used to propel him into a top talent on WWE NXT.

Following this moment, it did not take long for Lee to continue him momentum on the Black and Gold brand. On the WWE NXT episode prior to the Royal Rumble, Lee defeated Roderick Strong to win the North American Championship, and has retained the title all year. As shown at the Great American Bash, the rockets are continuing to be strapped on Lee, as he defeated Adam Cole to end his record-breaking title reign, as well as become the first-ever dual champion in WWE NXT history.

At the WWE Royal Rumble 2020, Lesnar completely dominated the first half of the match, eliminating a dozen straight competitors. One of those names were Keith Lee. However, Lee's entry was not like the other ones. Lee was able to do a face off with Lesnar, which was analogous to Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior in 1990, which received a very positive ovation.

This ovation became thunderous when Lee was able to shoulder tackle Lesnar to the ground, which shocked The Beast. To further protect Lee, Lesnar was only able to eliminate him while he was scuffling with Braun Strowman.
