LA Knight might reprise his heel persona once again and challenge a WWE legend for a match at WrestleMania 41. The legend in question is Stone Cold Steve Austin.
The Megastar lost his United States Championship to Shinsuke Nakamura cleanly at the recently concluded Survivor Series: WarGames Premium Live Event. Following the loss, The Megastar doesn't seem to have any big feud lined up, seeing how his past few rivalries with Andrade and Carmelo seemed for the US Title. He might turn heel once again and challenge The Texas Rattlesnake.
This was a match that WWE had reportedly pitched to Austin for WrestleMania 39, but for some reason, the bout didn't take place. Fightful Select had reported that WWE had pitched the names of Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar also for a match against Steve Austin, but that couldn't be finalized.
After these two big names, LA Knight's name was supposedly suggested. The reason was simple. Facing LA Knight was much easier since the star was present weekly and could carry the feud in Austin's absence. However, that couldn't happen. It could work now if Austin shows up at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas next year.
A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.
He has already hinted that he could be at WrestleMania 41. The WWE Hall of Famer was rumored to be at WrestleMania 40 this year, but that couldn't happen as the talks seemingly fell at the last moment.
"Couldn’t make it down on that one but WrestleMania this year is in Vegas. And I was doing an interview a while back and I said, ‘Hey man, and that’s 400 miles. That’s like right here, where we’re sitting.' But anyway, it’ll be in Vegas, so I hope to be there this year," Austin said while speaking to the Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez podcast. Austin last showed up at WrestleMania 38, where he returned to in-ring action after a gap of 19 years. The Texas Rattlesnake squared off against Kevin Owens in the main event of Night One of WrestleMania 38.
LA Knight recently revealed that Shawn Michaels backed him in WWE
It's well-known that LA Knight had a failed first run in WWE. However, the former United States Champion recently revealed that he didn't know WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels, who handles NXT, was a big admirer of him.
While speaking to Sports Bible last month, the 42-year-old superstar said that Michaels at the time had also prevented his release from the Stamford-based promotion many times when he could have been let go.
"I don't think I knew how much [Shawn Michaels supported] until more recently when he was talking about people before, who might have looked at a number next to my name, which would have been my age and not known much else about me. Shawn would apparently stand up for me and be like, 'I got him doing this and that, so we need to hold on to him for now.' I don't think in the moment I was aware of that. In the back of my head, I thought I was on the chopping block but not for any talent reason - just simply that number," LA Knight said.
If Steve Austin finally agrees to a match against LA Knight, that would give a major boost to The Megastar's career. It remains to be seen what The Texas Rattlesnake decides about WrestleMania 41.
