Monday night RAW: John Cena, CM Punk and Big E. Langston along with The Shield deliver best match

The latest edition of WWE Monday Night Raw wasn’t very exciting at all, and this is confirmed by the way the show started with The Authority ‘spreading’ love and candies, the Divas screwing up another match and WWE filling the show with below average Christmas matches. With most of the matches and segments ranging from average to poor, we were lucky to have two great matches on the show.

Both of these were 6-man tag matches; one involved The Wyatt Family up against The Rhodes Brothers and Daniel Bryan, and the other involved John Cena, CM Punk and Big E. Langston facing The Shield. Both of these were good enough to be called the “Match of the Night” but the main event match that involved The Shield, Cena, Punk and Langston edged the other one out for that label, mainly because of the way it ended.

This match marked Big E. Langston’s debut in the main event scene, and the Intercontinental Champion lived up to the expectations. The match was a repetition of SmackDown’s main event but with the inclusion of Langston.

The Shield started the match by targeting Cena and taking turns on him, but the 14-time World Champion managed to make a tag to Punk, who took on every member of the Shield and dominated Dean Ambrose until Seth Rollins distracted him, and helped his team to regain their control on the match. Rollins tagged in, worked on Punk for some time and then tagged Roman Reigns in.

Reigns took control over Punk, stopped him from making a tag, and then tagged Rollins back in the game who delivered a Body Scissors to Punk. The latter managed to hit him with a Back Suplex but failed to make the tag and was further worked on by the members of The Shield, who taunted Langston after Reigns knocked Cena outside.

Punk finally made the tag and brought in Big E for the first time in the match. Big E dominated the match, delivering clothesline to Reigns, then belly-to-belly to Rollins, and a double splash on both Ambrose and Rollins. He then tried to deliver the Big Ending but was brought down by Rollins who was about to get an Attitude Adjustment from Cena and only got saved by Reigns who gave a spear to Cena.

Punk helped by clearing the ring, and Langston delivered the Big Ending to Ambrose and went for the pin, but the pin was broken by the other two members of The Shield who got disqualified for doing so. They then went for a triple powerbomb on Langston but Reigns got caught by Cena who threw him into the barricade. Langston gave a double clothesline to Ambrose and Rollins, Cena gave an AA to Rollins and Punk gave a GTS to Ambrose. The Shield rolled out of the ring and Cena, Punk and Langston celebrated inside to end the show. The match ended the exact way that a face vs heel tag team match should – with the fans getting what they wanted.

This match along with the other 6-man tag match made up for a weak show which was filled with mostly below average matches and fillers. The Shield gave another good performance, especially Roman Reigns, and Big E. Langston showed us his capability to deliver even in a main event match.

The Shield ended another episode with a great performance. Given the fact that they won’t be together for long, we should start enjoying their performances more, and hope that they continue to deliver such entertaining matches till the time they are together.
