Asuka knew what she was doing
This is the one huge botch from Money in the Bank PPV that WWE would want everyone to forget. Fortunately for them, the timing of this mistake from the production team might have caused several fans to completely miss out on it. However, keen eyes still spotted the error in judgment ahead of a promo that ended up spoiling the result of the main event.

Prior to the Money in the Bank PPV, fans were wondering why Becky Lynch was not on the match card. Due to the lack of a good opponent, ‘The Man’ sat this one out, but she had a promo ready for tonight’s episode of RAW. In the promo, it was clearly stated that Lynch would be confronting the winner of the Money in the Bank ladder match on the following episode of RAW.

Now, WWE had already confirmed that the winner of the Money in the Bank contract would target the champion of their respective brand. Since this promo aired long before the main event, it confirmed that the winner of the MITB match would be a RAW Superstar. Fast forward to the closing moments of the show; it was Asuka who walked out of the WWE Headquarters with the MITB briefcase in her hand.
The only silver lining for WWE in this mistake was the fact that there were still two other Superstars from the Red brand competing the final match, which allowed a little room for speculation. But even before the match started, most of the fans narrowed down the competition to three Superstars, namely Asuka, Nia Jax, and Shayna Baszler.
