Elias was last seen at WrestleMania 36 getting a win over King Corbin. The build to their match at WrestleMania was intense. We saw Corbin throwing Elias off a stage on SmackDown onto a concrete floor. Corbin didn't expect to see Elias at WrestleMania after the fall he had taken.
To Corbin's surprise, Elias was able to make it to WrestleMania and even beat Corbin via a rollup. Elias was away from WWE TV after WrestleMania and didn't participate in the Money in the Bank qualifying matches either.
During the final leg of the Men's Money in the Bank match, Corbin and AJ Styles were seen battling it out at the top of the ladder for the MITB briefcase. From out of nowhere, Elias attacked Corbin from behind with a guitar.
The attack didn't only hamper Corbin's grip over the briefcase but also Styles'. The two lost control of the briefcase and it landed in Otis' hands, allowing him to cash it in on a Champion of his choice.
