The booking of Cody Rhodes has come under immense scrutiny as the American Nightmare missed Survivor Series: WarGames. Vince Russo feels that WWE could have had Rhodes drop his title to Kevin Owens before regaining it in their upcoming match.
The former friends are now at loggerheads on TV as Kevin Owens is out to prove that Cody Rhodes is not what he seems. Their feud has received time on SmackDown, and as announced recently, KO and Cody will finally have their match at Saturday Night's Main Event.
The decision to leave Cody off of Survivor Series has confused many, as Vince Russo couldn't figure out a good reason behind it. On Sportskeeda's Legion of RAW, the former WWE writer pitched an alternative story that could have already been set in motion.
Russo stated that WWE should have let the two-time tag team champion dethrone Rhodes at Survivor Series before setting up their rematch for Saturday Night's Main Event, where Cody could have won back the belt.
Corey Graves deleted his Tweet! More details HERE.
"That's what they should have done. They should have had Cody and Owens on Survivor Series. They should have had Owens screw Cody out of the title and bring the return match at Saturday Night's Main Event, and Cody wins it back. That's 101... to not book the champion at all? Come on, man!" [From 33: 30 onwards]
Owens is a true prizefighter, having won two tag team titles, the Universal championship, and every other secondary belt.
Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens will most likely headline the highly anticipated Saturday Night's Main Event, and the championship changing hands could legitimately change the dynamics of SmackDown before the new year.
