At WWE Money in the Bank, Sami Zayn defended his Intercontinental Championship against Bron Breakker. This was the latter's first time competing in a singles title match at a Premium Live Event on the main roster.
During the bout, Bron tossed Zayn over his shoulders and hit him with a few shoulder blocks in the corner. The Master Strategist took down his opponent with an elbow strike off the middle turnbuckle. He then nailed Bron Breakker with a tornado DDT and got a two-count.
The 26-year-old star caught Sami Zayn with a clothesline at ringside. The champion dropped the challenger with a Blue Thunderbomb for a nearfall. Bron took down Sami with a Frakensteiner off the top rope for a two-count. Bron Breakker tried to hit Sami Zayn with a spear at ringside but the latter did a leapfrog and Braun stopped himself from crashing into the stairs during their match at Money in the Bank.
He then sent Sami into the announce table with a dive off the apron. Zayn planted him with an exploder in the corner and went for the Helluva Kick but Bron countered with a jumping knee. Bron Breakker nailed Sami with a gorilla press slam but ran into a big boot. Finally, Sami Zayn hit the Helluva Kick to win the match at WWE Money in the Bank.
