Tonight's episode of WWE SmackDown saw Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair finally getting a title shot at The Unholy Union. The duo had been waiting to fight Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn to take back their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. However, just when they were inches away from a win, a 28-year-old star ruined the match for them.
Blair Davenport made a surprising interference in the title match when Cargill and Belair were steamrolling the defending champions. As a result, the match ended via disqualification and The Unholy Union retained the titles. Following this, the trio of Fyre, Davenport, and Dawn unleashed themselves on Belair and Cargill and beat them down.
After the show was over, Byron Saxton approached the three superstars and asked Davenport why she got involved in the match. WWE tweeted the video of her response on its official X handle and shed light on the true motives of Blair.
“Why? Do you want to know why? Well, let me tell you why, Byron. I thought Jade, Bianca, Naomi, all running their mouths about us backstage. They think they can do that to us and not have any repercussions? You know, well, they think they might be little good buddies or whatever they are,” said Davenport.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
While this explained her animosity towards Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair, she later revealed why she favored the reigning WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.
“And the one thing that we have today, though, is history. All the way back to NXT UK. All the way back to Japan. All over UK wrestling scene. We've known each other for a very long time, and history means more than whatever fake friendship they're having right now.”
Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre sniggered while Davenport was answering Saxton and Fyre even noted that the three of them were a bunch of bullies. But, while the trio was gloating backstage, Jade Cargill may have suffered a bad injury due to the interference.
WWE Superstar Jade Cargill ends up taking a vicious blow
The trio of Alba Fyre, Isla Dawn, and Blair Davenport sought nothing but destruction once the referee declared that the match was over. While attacking Jade Cargill, there was a moment when the tag champs tossed The Storm across the announcer’s table.
However, Cargill bumped and landed at a very uncomfortable angle which made even the commentators Wade Barrett and Corey Graves worried about her.
So far, the Stamford-based promotion hasn’t released any information regarding an injury for Jade Cargill. Thus, the WWE Universe will have to be patient for some time before they can hear the latest update about The Storm.
