Brock Lesnar has been absent from WWE television for nearly 14 months. A WWE legend recently suggested he could return to target a top RAW Superstar.
The Beast Incarnate last competed in August 2023 when he lost to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam. Earlier this year, Chief Content Officer Triple H provided an update on Lesnar's status, pointing out that the former Universal Champion "does his own thing," but they would be open to speaking with him if he wanted to return. Recently, fans and experts have been speculating about a potential return of the 47-year-old after he was referred to twice on RAW last night. When Dave LaGreca suggested that Brock would return to fight World Heavyweight Champion Gunther on the Busted Open podcast, his co-host, Hall of Famer Bully Ray, seemingly agreed.
Although he has no confirmation that Lesnar will make his comeback after over a year of absence, the wrestling legend expressed his desire to see the square-off between The Beast Incarnate and the former Intercontinental Champion:
"All I know is I would love to see Brock [Lesnar] and Gunther probably much like everybody else out there," he said. [From 12:15 - 12:23]
Gunther wants a match against the seven-time WWE Champion
In an interview with Mail Sport last May, Gunther addressed potentially going head-to-head against Brock Lesnar. The former NXT UK Champion pointed out that he heard rumors that he was to face The Beast Incarnate at WrestleMania 40. Although the match did not happen, the leader of Imperium disclosed that he still hoped the fight would happen.
The Ring General also recalled the face-off he and Lesnar had in the 2023 Royal Rumble match, claiming the reaction they got showed the fans' interest in the potential clash:
"We'll see if there's a chance for it to happen again. I'm more than up for it. How the situation is exactly right now, I'm really not that informed about it, to be honest. I think we had that one face off in the Royal Rumble, the reaction that was there and that was a confirmation for me," he said.
While Lesnar remains absent, Gunther will face Cody Rhodes one-on-one in a Crown Jewel Championship match at the upcoming WWE premium live event in Saudi Arabia. Bully Ray discussed the match, predicting that outside interference could be decisive.
