A WWE SmackDown Superstar recently opened up about Drew McIntyre's influence on the Scottish pro wrestling scene. She praised the former world champion for his contributions to the business.

The 33-year-old WWE star in question is Piper Niven. At Clash at the Castle 2024, Niven faced Bayley for the Women's Title on her home turf. She received immense support from the Scottish crowd during the contest. Unfortunately for her, she failed to secure the gold. On the same show, McIntyre unsuccessfully challenged Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship.

In a chat with Cultaholic Wrestling, Piper Niven said Drew McIntyre's hard work and success inspired many Scottish performers to pursue a career in pro wrestling. She further discussed WWE's recently concluded premium live event, Clash at the Castle, which emanated from OVO Hydro in Glasgow.

"People can only achieve what they believe is possible and that's exactly how I feel about Drew in Scottish wrestling. He made it possible for all of us, because he was the first that went and became a WWE Superstar, and opened doors for everybody and showed us that we could do it. And I really think it was that belief that caused the boom period, that caused the growth in the grassroots, and now we are having our own PLE and they came to us." (0:01- 0:26)

WWE SmackDown Superstar Pipen Niven commented on Bayley

Bayley won the WWE Women's Title from IYO SKY at WrestleMania XL. Since then, she has defended the championship against prominent names like Naomi and Tiffany Stratton.

Before Clash at the Castle 2024, Piper Niven spoke about The Role Model. In an interview with PWInsider, Niven highlighted how incredibly talented the former Damage CTRL member was inside the squared circle. She further mentioned that Bayley pushed her opponents to give their best in matches.

"I think [Bayley] is incredibly talented. I think she brings out the best in her opponents and I really think that is something that should be respected, not just as a fan but as a fellow performer and you really admire the people that work like that and another performer like that comes to mind, Shawn Michaels, so I really do have a lot of respect for her. But with that in mind, I'll try and keep that respect in mind when I'm drilling her head into the mat and taking her belt off her."

Fans will be eager to see whether Piper Niven receives another shot at the Women's Title after delivering a remarkable performance in Glasgow.
