Former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently shared a possible name to win the Women's United States Championship. The veteran writer reviewed this week's SmackDown episode and felt Chelsea Green could go all the way.
Green was in a high-stakes matchup against Bianca Belair and Blair Davenport on SmackDown this week. She won the match and advanced to the next round after hitting the Unprettier on Davenport. Bianca walked out of the match halfway to tend to Jade Cargill who was attacked backstage.
During a recent episode of BroDown with Mac Davis, Russo claimed that WWE was finally recognizing Green's efforts. He felt it was high time they rewarded her with the Women's United States Championship. The former writer claimed that Chelsea Green could win the tournament.
"There are just times when it's just time to give somebody a belt. She [Chelsea Green], to me, has done such a great, great job and has really been lost in the shuffle. She continued to deliver week after week and I just think there comes a time when you need to reward somebody. And I wouldn't be surprised if they wind up putting the belt on her coming out of this tournament," Russo noted. [From 12:00 onwards]
Green next opponent will be Bayley as the two collide in the semi-finals of the Women's United States Championship tournament.
It will be interesting to see if the 33-year-old star does go all the way and wins the tournament finale at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event next month.
