LA Knight botched a spot during a match against a 34-year-old WWE Superstar last Friday on SmackDown. WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry recently detailed how the latter intelligently improvised to save The Megastar.
The superstar in question is none other than Andrade. The former United States Champion attempted to recapture the championship last Friday when he squared off against the current titleholder, LA Knight, on the blue brand. During the match, The Megastar seemingly attempted to jump on the ropes to deliver a springboard to his opponent. However, he slipped twice.
On the Busted Open podcast, WWE legend Mark Henry pointed out how Andrade saved the match following Knight's botch by improvising another spot to get himself back in the same position he was supposed to end up in following The Megastar's springboard:
"There was a point where LA Knight went to do the springboard up to the top and flip Andrade back into the ring and it got jangled up. Like, he kept missing the ropes twice. The ropes were slick. But in that moment, Imma tell you how good Andrade is, Andrade communicated by action: 'I'mma knock you down and then I'mma come off, I'm gonna miss, you move outta the way and put myself in position,' the same position that he would've been in so him and LA Knight could go into the thing. That was all communication on the fly," he said. [32:02 - 32:45]
LA Knight addressed his botch on WWE SmackDown
LA Knight praised Andrade in a recent interview WWE shared on Instagram. He also addressed his botch during their United States Championship match.
The Megastar claimed having tired legs was the reason he failed to jump to the top rope:
"Man, I'll tell you what, Andrade, hell of a talent out there. But still, not enough to get you over the hump. I'll tell you like this man, not every piece of your offense is going to go right. He's seen it, I've seen it. Hell, I didn't make it to the top (rope). That is what happens when your legs are tired out there. It happens. But believe me my man, anybody walking, if one doesn't get you, the other one will, and that is exactly what happened," he said.
Carmelo Hayes recently warned LA Knight that he would be the one to end his United States Championship reign. It will be interesting to see if he can deliver on his promise.
