John Cena's sudden announcement about his WWE retirement at Money in the Bank 2024 took the wrestling world by surprise and has led to a flurry of reactions. Grayson Waller was one of the many stars who responded to the news, as he seemingly laid down a massive challenge to the 16-time World Champion.

The Toronto crowd erupted in joy when John Cena unexpectedly showed up at Money in the Bank. However, this soon turned into shock when Cena disclosed he was planning to walk away into the sunset. He also revealed his plans for a retirement tour in 2025 that could see him competing inside the ring at several major premium live events, including WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas.

Among the several reactions that have been pouring in since he made the announcement, one of them was from Grayson Waller. In his typical style, Waller didn't pay any respect to the 16-time WWE World Champion but rather teased a blockbuster showdown with him down the line. He shared a picture of their segment from the 2023 edition of MITB, where they traded back-and-forth barbs.

John Cena on his post-retirement plans in WWE

In the press conference following Money in the Bank 2024, John Cena answered several more questions about his impending retirement. Cena revealed that he intended to put his in-ring gear aside for good after he hung up his boots.

He also added that fans would still get to see him in WWE in a tie and suit and that he didn't plan to get physical at all inside the ring after his retirement.

"My uniform will be retiring. You will see me in a suit and tie. I have no intention of being physical in any way (...) no guest refereeing, no falling through an accidental table. None of that stuff. I will be a fan and an advocate, and that's it."

MITB turned out to be an unexpectedly emotional night for fans owing to Cena's announcement, and it remains to be seen how WWE scripts the final chapter of his in-ring career.
