After spending six years in WWE, a four-time champion will reportedly depart the Stamford-based company this summer when his contract expires. Former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. now believes the star could join AEW.
The superstar in question is Ricochet. The high-flyer had reportedly informed the Stamford-based promotion that he would not be signing a new contract after his deal expired this summer. He was seemingly written off television last Monday after falling victim to a vicious attack from Bron Breakker.
On his Wrestling with Freddie podcast, Freddie Prinze Jr. predicted that the 35-year-old former Speed Champion would join AEW following his departure from WWE:
"Ricochet is bouncing and Will Ospreay on social media has been talking a lot about Prince Puma, King Ricochet. AEW seems like the spot for him. I mean, I know he's done Japan and he's wrestled all over the world but when these people are talking like that, I feel like they're also talking privately as well. And I feel like conversations have been had. And it seems like AEW is where Ricochet is going and he could thrive there I think," he said. [7:42 - 8:11]

Ex-WWE star also thinks Ricochet will join AEW for one significant reason
On an episode of the Cafe de Rene podcast, former WWE Tag Team Champion Rene Dupree discussed Ricochet's future following the reports suggesting he has informed WWE of his departure.
The former member of La Resistance predicted that the high-flyer would join AEW because Tony Khan would offer him more money than what he would get in the Stamford-based company. He also said that Khan would be very keen to get someone like the 35-year-old, especially after bringing Ospreay into the promotion.
"It's the money. You know Tony Khan's salivating to get another one of those guys, especially having Ospreay on the card, having those two, cuz don't forget that's what got Ricochet on the map was those matches from Ospreay from New Japan. When that sh*t went viral, millions, you know, that's what really put him on the map. Christ, he was getting booked everywhere. He was asking up to ridiculous amount of money on the indies," he said.
Ricochet recently dropped the Speed Championship to Andrade ahead of his potential departure. It would be interesting to see if he would find more success if he moved to AEW.
