A former WWE Superstar has teased returning to the Stamford-based company via a social media update. The 39-year-old last competed inside the wrestling promotion's ring six years ago.
James Ellsworth was fired from the company by the then-SmackDown General Manager Paige (aka Saraya) after he'd insulted the latter on the July 24, 2018, edition of the blue brand.
Earlier today, Carmelo Hayes took to his X (fka Twitter) account to share a post suggesting that James Ellsworth could be his mystery opponent for the upcoming edition of Friday Night SmackDown. Ellsworth and Hayes had a friendly interaction and teased the former WWE Superstar's return to the company. The 39-year-old asked Carmelo to tell SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis to send him an e-mail. You can check out the entire thread by clicking here.
"Tell @RealNickAldis to hit up [email protected]," he wrote.

James Ellsworth made a bold prediction about former WWE Superstar
Matt Riddle was among the top names to be released from WWE in September 2023. After parting ways with the wrestling promotion, The Original Bro started competing in MLW and NJPW, while also appearing on the independent scene.
Reflecting on one such appearance, James Ellsworth shared a post on X, earlier this year, to make a major claim about Matt Riddle. He predicted that the former United States Champion would have an outstanding year and earn more money than he had ever made in a single year.
"That place only holds 200. There was 200 not 50. Riddle is going to make more $ this year then he has any year because he’s hot fresh off tv, doesn’t have to pay his own cars or hotels, WWE is great and pays great, but there are good indies that take care of the names well," wrote Ellsworth.

Matt Riddle made his TNA debut at Turning Point on November 29. The 38-year-old replaced Trey Miguel as Zachary Wentz and Kushida's tag team partner to lock horns with the team of Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, and Ace Austin. Unfortunately, Riddle's team lost the contest after The Charismatic Enigma pinned Kushida to secure the win.
