This week’s episode of SmackDown saw WWE Women's Champion Nia Jax place her faith and appreciation in a 39-year-old WWE Superstar. While The Annihilator trusted the reigning champ to take care of a pestering opponent for her, Candice LeRae ended up losing the match. Moreover, this was also the first time she got pinned after becoming the WWE Women’s Speed Champion.
Candice LeRae faced off against Naomi in a singles match this week. Ahead of her bout, Nia Jax was seen praising The Poison Pixie over her ally Tiffany Stratton. Queen Nia didn’t just taunt Tiffy for being unavailable last week but also highlighted that LeRae had pinned Bayley, something The Buff Barbie hasn’t done so far.
Although the Women’s Speed Champion matched The Glow toe-to-toe and was even ahead of her in the beginning, Naomi gained the upper hand as the match progressed. Sensing danger, Indi Hartwell, who was supporting LeRae from ringside, drove Naomi through the ring’s post to neutralize her like Bayley last week. To Hartwell’s surprise, however, this prompted The Role Model to enter the arena.
The Hugger instantly took out Hartwell, which distracted an already dazed Poison Pixie. Finding her window of opportunity, The Glow executed the Bubba Bomb and pinned LeRae.
With this, Bayley and Naomi avenged their loss last week and thwarted The Poison Pixie’s momentum. With LeRae biting the dust, it will be interesting to see if Nia Jax maintains her ties with the Women’s Speed Champion or breaks them.
