Vince McMahon's controversial exit from WWE saw a major shift in the company's management. A 40-year-old star believes that the move was a blessing in disguise.
Kevin Owens has worked with the company for ten years now and knows a lot about how things are done in the promotion. He was initially told that he would never make it out of NXT, but he went on to have a memorable rivalry with John Cena on the main roster and won the WWE and Universal Championships.
The promotion has seen a rise in its viewership over the past couple of years. Kevin Owens believes that it has a lot to do with Vince McMahon’s ouster from the company and the change in its management. He was vocal about the change in his talk with Collider, again from the inside of his car.
"That change in direction made a lot of noise outside of WWE," he explained. "I think that probably turned a few eyes toward us. Everybody started watching again and realized, like, 'Hey, this is really good stuff now.'"
Many fans believe the product has improved quite a bit. It would be great to see more fans gravitate toward it once RAW moves to Netflix.
Triple H could make major changes to the RAW and SmackDown rosters in the coming months as the Head of Creative after Vince McMahon's exit. He has the power to take the company in a whole new direction.
Kevin Owens is proud of what WWE has done post-Vince McMahon
Vince McMahon controlled WWE’s creative for nearly the entire time the company has been in business. However, he stepped down from his role after TKO Group took over the company and he was named in a lawsuit.
Speaking to Collider, Kevin Owens made it clear that the company’s recent success wasn’t just a coincidence. Instead, he noted that it took years of hard work to get to where they are today.
"It’s just really about how hard everyone’s worked for so long, and eventually, things kind of lined up right. People started paying attention more and realized the show’s pretty great. There are a lot of talented, hardworking guys and girls here, giving it their all every single week."
Kevin Owens will challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Many fans believe that the card for the event would have probably looked very different had Vince McMahon still been in control.
