Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer has shared his two cents on the possibility of a top WWE Superstar winning yet another World Title before officially hanging his boots. The name being discussed is none other than John Cena.

The Franchise Player announced his retirement at this year's Money in the Bank in Toronto, Canada. Cena will embark on a farewell tour in 2025 before officially lacing up his boots for one last ride.

John Cena's two-decade career has been decorated with many accolades. But perhaps the most iconic is his 16th World Championship win when he tied Ric Flair's legendary record. During the MITB post-show conference, the 47-year-old star teased having a record-breaking 17th title reign.

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that The Cenation Leader becoming a 17-time World Champion wouldn't be shocking.

"It will be interesting if they try to have him [John Cena] go for 17. I don't know if he's gonna go for it but just the way he talked and everything, it wouldn't shock me," he said. [H/T: Wrestling Inc.]

WWE analyst says John Cena can finally become a 17-time World Champion at SummerSlam 2025 by defeating 36-year-old star

Pro wrestling analyst Sam Roberts has predicted how The Franchise Player could grab his 17th World Title at next year's WWE SummerSlam Premium Live Event.

Speaking on his NotSam Wrestling podcast, Roberts noted that Gunther could potentially win the World Heavyweight Championship from Damian Priest at this year's Biggest Party of the Summer.

The RAW Talk host further mentioned that The Ring General could carry the title till SummerSlam 2025, and John Cena could dethrone him at the event.

"Maybe Gunther is the guy. Maybe Gunther holds the title for a year. Maybe Gunther wins the title at SummerSlam and then holds it for the year until John Cena beats him. And maybe in October Gunther wins it back or somebody else wins it," Sam Roberts said.
