A five-time WWE champion is confident about dethroning Liv Morgan and becoming the Women's World Champion. IYO SKY is set to challenge Morgan at Saturday Night's Main Event and has already set her sights on a new challenger.
The Genius of the Sky became the number one contender after winning a Battle Royal on the November 4 episode of WWE RAW in Saudi Arabia. She was also part of the winning team at Survivor Series: WarGames ahead of her title bout on Saturday in New York.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, SKY proclaimed that she was leaving Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum as the new Women's World Champion. She also teased defending the title against Rhea Ripley.
"This Saturday, I will have gold in my hands officially. And then……. #SNME #WWERaw @WWE," SKY tweeted.
IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley have a history, and a feud between the two was teased at the end of the December 9 episode of WWE RAW. On Monday, Ripley defeated Raquel Rodriguez in an Anything Goes match, wherein SKY and Liv Morgan got involved. The Eradicator and The Genius of the Sky had a staredown to end the show.
Saturday Night's Main Event returns to NBC and will air on Peacock on Saturday, December 14. The last time the event happened was on July 28, 2008. SKY was still a rookie in Japan at the time, while Ripley and Morgan had not even begun wrestling.
The Damage CTRL has held the Women's Title, Women's Tag Team Championship, NXT Women's Championship, and the NXT Women's Tag Team Title. She will aim to add more gold to her resume in New York.
Liv Morgan comments about the 2025 Royal Rumble match
After being on the shelf for six months due to injury, Liv Morgan returned to WWE as part of this year's Royal Rumble match. Morgan came close to winning before finishing as runner-up to Bayley. The rest of the year still worked out for her as she successfully finished her revenge tour on Rhea Ripley.
Speaking to WWE Die Woche, Morgan claimed that she would have been the winner of the 2025 Royal Rumble match if she weren't the Women's World Champion.
"If I wasn't champion this year, I'd probably win this year, so that's just another opportunity for someone else because if I was not holding this Women's World Championship, I would have won the Royal Rumble. So I'm just your gracious, classy queen giving someone else an opportunity to win the Royal Rumble," Morgan said. [H/T: WrestlingInc.]
Morgan has held the Women's World Championship since May 25, when she defeated Becky Lynch at King and Queen of the Ring in Saudi Arabia.
