Factions are a mainstay in WWE under Triple H's creative leadership. Many new stables have been created in the Stamford-based promotion in recent times. Recently, five-time WWE World Champion CM Punk commented on him potentially creating a faction down the line.
In late 2009, CM Punk started his journey of creating his faction and became the leader of The Straight Edge Society. The members worshiped The Second City Saint and obeyed the orders of the three-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
In an interview with Ringside Collectibles, The Best in The World was asked if he's interested in creating his faction based on his mentor-like relationship with several upcoming stars. While The Second City Saint admitted that it was unlikely in the foreseeable future, he claimed he would be receptive to ideas if they were ''good!''
"I'm not going to say, 'No!' because 'Never Say Never!' I don't see it happening in the foreseeable future, but you never know what's going to happen. That's the cool thing about where we are at as a company right now; creatively speaking, this is the most fruitful, creative locker room that I think I've ever been in where ideas aren't ignored and shot down. People are eager to share ideas. So, somebody someday could've a brilliant idea that something I've blinders on and can't see. And I would be receptive to any of the ideas as long as they're good," Punk said. (From 5:38 to 6:21)

CM Punk has been in two popular WWE factions
The Straight Edge Society was ahead of its time, as CM Punk enlightened the crowd with his teachings and straight-edge lifestyle. Sadly, the audience booed Punk and his group due to their antics against popular stars.
After two consecutive defeats against The Big Show, the faction ended when Serena left the Stamford-based promotion. Later, CM Punk joined The Nexus and eventually took over the group after he cost Wade Barrett a Number One Contender Steel Cage Match for the WWE Championship on RAW in January 2011. Barrett was subsequently exiled from the group.
The group was rebranded as The New Nexus and The Voice of the Voiceless added new members to the faction. While he headed two groups in WWE, he was not the original creator of The Nexus and only created The Straight Edge Society.
The faction slowly and quietly ended when CM Punk ascended to the top of the promotion and kickstarted 'The Summer of Punk' in 2011.
