WWE legends have often come out of retirement for one final run or match in the past. One more name has now teased the same, with Wade Barrett hinting at an in-ring after over nine years.
The 6ft 7 in superstar was active inside the squared circle for nearly 12 years. However, he hung up his boots in 2016, with his last match coming against Big E and Kofi Kingston with Sheamus by his side. The English star took over the commentary role in 2020 and is currently a part of the RAW commentary team.
During a recent interview with PWMania, Barrett was asked about a possible in-ring return. The former Nexus leader noted that there is a small chance of him donning the wrestling boots once again.
"If the magic is there and it happens and it’s the perfect storm, maybe those tights will be pulled out of storage, have to make sure the moths haven’t eaten them or I may have to pay for a new pair, we’ll see. There’s always a tiny, tiny chance, but don’t hold your breath." [H/T: PWMania]
Wade Barrett showed interest in facing former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre
Wade Barrett already seems to have an opponent in mind in case he makes his in-ring return. The color commentator was involved in an altercation with Drew McIntyre earlier this year and thus would like to settle the business with the former WWE Champion inside the squared circle:
"Yeah, I think we all know the answer to that. Absolutely it would be Drew McIntyre. He’s someone I go way back with and very close friends with the guy over the years. He did talk a little smack to me a few weeks ago on RAW and I haven’t forgotten about that. I’m not going to make a major deal of it, but he’s lucky he stopped where he did," said Wade Barrett. Wade Barrett joined WWE in 2010. He won the first season of NXT and went on to become the leader of The Nexus. The star won the Intercontinental Championship on five occasions and is also a former King of the Ring. He has served in various non-wrestling roles since hanging up his boots.
