WWE Clash at the Castle: Scotland will feature five matches, including Sami Zayn's latest Intercontinental Championship defense against Chad Gable. Bill Apter, a member of several wrestling Hall of Fames, believes Gable must leave the premium live event with the title.
On April 6, Zayn ended Gunther's 666-day Intercontinental Championship reign at WrestleMania XL. Since then, his former ally Gable has turned heel and become one of the most disliked superstars on the roster.
Apter appeared on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine with host Mac Davis and WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long. The legendary journalist praised Gable's recent WWE performances, particularly his power-crazed segments with Akira Tozawa, Maxxine Dupri, and Otis:
"Chad Gable, oh my God!" Apter said. "This whole thing with him and Otis and the rest of his team there, he is turning out to be one of the best heels that I have ever seen. Great ring work, but his microphone work is absolutely stupendous. This is one of my favorite parts of Monday Night RAW at this point, watching Chad Gable work." [0:18 – 0:47]

Based on Gable's impressive work of late, Apter thinks he must end Zayn's Intercontinental Championship reign after 70 days at Clash at the Castle: Scotland.
"The way he speaks, the way he acts on the promos, the way he wrestles in the ring, this guy has got to take the Intercontinental Championship away from Sami Zayn. Gotta do it," said Apter. [0:48 – 1:03]

Teddy Long on Chad Gable's work ahead of Clash at the Castle
Clash at the Castle: Scotland will not be Chad Gable's first televised Intercontinental Championship opportunity. The Alpha Academy leader unsuccessfully challenged for the title on four previous occasions on WWE programming, including twice against Gunther in 2023.
Like Bill Apter, Teddy Long only had good things to say about Gable's recent character transformation:
"Yeah, everything's good with Chad. I mean, that stuff is really good, and if he keeps on what he's doing, he's gonna be great, man. Everything is good," said Long. [1:33 – 1:41]
Elsewhere at Clash at the Castle, Scotland's own Drew McIntyre will challenge Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship. Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes will also be in action against AJ Styles in an "I Quit" Match.
In the women's division, Bayley will defend her WWE Women's Championship against Scottish star Piper Niven. Meanwhile, Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill will put their tag titles on the line against Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark and Scottish duo Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn in a Triple Threat Match.
