WWE made a major announcement on SmackDown that could change the course of programming if handled right. A 74-year-old wrestling veteran praised WWE for the decision and went into detail.
On the latest episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk, hosts Sid Pullar III and Rick Ucchino spoke with Dutch Mantel about the announcement of the Women's United States Championship that was made a couple of weeks ago on SmackDown.
Dutch Mantel said that this announcement made by the SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis was a great idea depending on how they handled it. He said if done wrong, people could get bored of it in two weeks:
"I don't think it's a bad idea. Of course, we don't see how they're going to treat this and handle it. Hell, it could be two weeks and we might be thinking 'Boy, what a stupid idea,' because they handled it wrong. But they brought them a new car. We're going to be driving this car for a while and see how far it can go and see if it can beat something. They have the talent to put a lot of emphasis on that title."
The wrestling veteran continued:
"It's up to them how much they do it, and what story they tell around that. I think it's actually a good idea. I'm going to take this title and put some emphasis on it and then are you going nowhere? Just somebody having a title it don't mean s**t. They've got to do something with it, whoever is challenging them, and the story they can tell together and that will tell the success. I think it's a good idea. I really do." [From 01:41 to 02:50]

SmackDown GM Nick Aldis had a lot of praise for one particular star.
The SmackDown General Manager has had to take over from Adam Pearce in dealing with the complaints of one particular superstar - Chelsea Green. She also happens to be in the Women's United States Championship tournament.
On INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, Aldis praised Chelsea Green for her ability to maximize the limited minutes given to her and turn everything she does into something amazing:
"It's a night off. It's great. You don't have to think very hard because she's [Chelsea Green] just going to give you endless material. What a great example of maximizing your minutes. What a great example of taking something that a lot of people would have [sic] seen that particular opportunity," he said.
It was reported on WrestleVotes Radio on Backstage Pass in one of the early episodes that even WWE management is high on Chelsea Green and pops for everything she does.
The indication of the report seemed to suggest that big things are coming for her in the future. It's going to be interesting to see whether that big moment will be at Saturday Night's Main Event in December.
