A WWE Hall of Famer once called Linda McMahon her "wrestling mom" early in her career. Trish Stratus got close with Linda during their infidelity storyline with Vince McMahon in early 2001.
Linda served as WWE's President and Chief Executive Officer from 1980 when it was still called Titan Sports until her resignation in 2009. She ran for senate in Connecticut in 2010 and 2012 but lost both times. She was then appointed by Donald Trump as administrator of the Small Business Administration in 2017.
One of her most memorable storylines in WWE was her feud against Vince McMahon which involved Trish Stratus, and Shane and Stephanie McMahon, culminating at WrestleMania 17. Linda would end up kicking Vince in his family jewels during his match against Shane.

Speaking to Inside the Ropes earlier this year, Stratus was asked about her relationship with Linda when the affair storyline with Vince and Stephanie was ongoing. She had nothing but respect for the then-McMahon matriarch, calling her "wrestling mom."

"She's amazing. What a wonderful lady. We did a speaking engagement at a university or something. We did it together, and so we had a chance to really spend the day together. She was so sweet because she saw me like, ‘Come in.’ She saw me and Stephanie have our match together and she embraced it like, ‘You girls go get them.’ It felt like she's like my wrestling mom almost, you know what I mean? She was really understood the story, she knew the assignment and she was great at being doing her character work. She really took it serious," Stratus said. [11:17 - 11:47]
Linda McMahon would make sporadic appearances in WWE over the years before her resignation in 2009. She reportedly got separated from Vince in 2022 though no divorce has been filed.

Following his historic win in the 2024 Presidential Elections, incoming United States President Donald Trump has nominated Linda McMahon as Secretary of Education. McMahon will likely get confirmed and start her tenure early next year.
The McMahon family has been close to Donald Trump even before he became the POTUS in 2016. Trump was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013.
