WWE star Shawn Spears has been making waves in NXT since his arrival. The 43-year-old pro wrestler recently pinned WWE NXT Championship’s number-one contender Je’Von Evans. He has also managed to secure a big win against a top champion, following which he has made a bold claim.

The June 25, 2024, episode of WWE NXT saw Ethan Page enter the arena and demand an NXT Championship match against Trick Williams from GM Ava. Listening to this, however, Shawn Spears also came along and said that he also deserves a title shot since he defeated Je’Von Evans. He further said that he could beat Trick Williams as well, which prompted the champion to ask Ava for a singles match against Spears.

Cody Rhodes’ AEW counterpart fought hard against Williams but was unable to get the win. There was an interference from Oro Mensah in an attempt to attack Ethan Page, who was ringside. There was more drama as the NXT Champion was attacked by Brooks Jensen. Using the distraction, Spears hit a C4 and secured a big win against Williams. Following this, WWE posted a video of Spears on Instagram where he issued a major warning.

“I just pinned your NXT Champion. If I did it once, I could da*n sure do it again. Advantage Spears.”

This has now resulted in a big change in an upcoming match where the NXT Championship will be on the line in the next premium live event.

NXT GM Ava is having a hard time with the developmental division, with almost every superstar making several demands of her. While she has shown some leeway to Ethan Page, Shawn Spears has now demanded a title shot based on his in-ring performance. The Rock’s daughter has now decided to shake things up after Trick Williams’ loss and announced a Fatal Four-Way match for NXT Heatwave.

Je’Von Evans had already earned an NXT Championship shot at NXT Heatwave by winning a Number-One Contender Battle Royal. Ethan Page was demanding an entry since he had defeated Je’Von Evans.

Now, Shawn Spears stands as a candidate who has beaten both the NXT Champion and its number-one contender. It would be interesting to see if Spears can capitalize on his advantage of overcoming two of his opponents to become the next NXT Champion.
