Cody Rhodes' issues with The Bloodline still seem to exist. However, once he's done with the Samoan group, Bill Apter says The American Nightmare must face LA Knight.
Rhodes has held onto the Undisputed WWE Championship since WrestleMania 40 and, at SummerSlam, overcame a stiff challenge from Solo Sikoa.
This week on SmackDown, Sikoa demanded a rematch as Roman Reigns' return thwarted his last effort. Cody Rhodes is set to have another match against Sikoa next week, but beyond that, the reigning world champion might need another credible opponent if he retains the title again.
On the latest episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk, with Joe Lowry as the special guest host, Bill Apter revealed his desire to see an "old school" champion vs. champion showdown.
Apter proposed an angle in which LA Knight disputes Cody Rhodes' status as the undisputed champion and stakes claim to a shot at the company's top prize.
The legendary wrestling journalist explained:
"You know what I want to see? I want to go back to old school when they used to have champion vs champion. I think they need to have LA Knight come out one night and say, 'You know what? Is Cody the undisputed champion? Well, I'm disputing him. What?!" [29:00 - 30:00]
Bill Apter was fascinated by the prospect of seeing Knight lock horns with Rhodes, and the veteran wrestling analyst believed the feud could be stretched until early 2025.
He continued:
"I would love to see that, maybe drag it out till WrestleMania, but I would love to see that where LA Knight says it's undisputed; no one is disputing it, but I am disputing it. I am the champion of the United States, but I want to be the undisputed champion as well, and a match with him and Cody, man!" [30:01 - 31:30]
While Cody Rhodes is busy dealing with The Bloodline, LA Knight attacked both Andrade and Carmelo Hayes on SmackDown this week, clearly revealing what's next for the WWE United States Championship.
