The WWE Universe recently welcomed two of the most accomplished wrestlers in history: Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin. The Motor City Machine Guns joined the company with a wealth of knowledge. Shelley is immensely successful in his other career and is now using that expertise to assist his colleagues and fans.
The Next began making his name as a pro wrestler in early 2022 and then linked up with Sabin in 2006. The duo has wrestled in numerous countries for promotions like ROH, TNA, NJPW, PWG, MLW, and even AEW. The Motor City Machine Guns became WWE Tag Team Champions just one week after debuting.
Shelley became a physical therapy clinician years ago to prepare for a post-wrestling career while also wanting to help people. He earned certification in 2018 after his ROH deal expired and has continued to work regularly while not wrestling. He took to Instagram this week after the Thanksgiving Holiday and shared an older tweet he shared with colleagues and fans.
"It's important to remember that PRO ATHLETES have off seasons. Trust me - these people don't touch a weight and eat pretty freely in some cases for weeks on end. 'Regular' people/pro wrestlers/gen pop/avid exercisers have NO off season. So don't hang yourself out to dry because you enjoyed the holidays and took some days off. You'll be okay, I promise," Alex Shelley wrote.
Shelley then captioned that post with a PSA about his clients' post-holiday guilt and plugged his coaching business.
"So many of my clients have some sort of survivor guilt from Thanksgiving, and I get it - there are a lot of reasons to beat yourself up over not sticking to a program - but let’s remember that consistency is NOT perfection, and perfection is the enemy of good. Email me for training and nutrition coaching - [email protected] or sign up for the newsletter!" Alex Shelley wrote.
The Guns retained their titles over The Street Profits after fighting to a No Contest on November 15, just one week after defeating A-Town Down Under in a non-title bout. The No Contest came after interference by Tommaso Ciampa, setting up a potential Triple Threat with DIY.
Alex Shelley gives major thanks
Alex Shelley celebrated Thanksgiving 2024 as a WWE Superstar. The veteran talent took to X to express gratitude to his supporters.
"Literally, couldn’t be more thankful. It’s everyone who got me here (there’s a metric ton of you) that I remembered on Thanksgiving. Love you all," Alex Shelley wrote.
The Guns came into WWE with several championships under their belts. They are one-time ROH World Tag Team Champions and three-time TNA World Tag Team Champions, and they have had two reigns with NJPW and one with GCW, among several other smaller promotions.
