Samantha Irvin surprised the WWE Universe earlier this week by announcing her exit from the company. She recently revealed the reason behind her departure, and two veterans are not pleased with it.
The 35-year-old became a fan-favorite on-screen character in WWE as the ring announcer of RAW. She had a good run in the company from 2021 to 2024 before suddenly announcing her departure before last week’s episode of Monday Night RAW.
Dissecting the reason behind her departure on Sportskeeda Wrestling’s The Coach and Bro Wrestling Show, Vince Russo and Jonathan Coachman pointed out that her statement made little sense. The Coach stated that she burned the bridge between her and the wrestling world way too quickly after her exit.
Meanwhile, Vince Russo pointed out that WWE writers could have given her something more, as she was really good at her job. She could have become a manager or General Manager on-screen, as she wanted.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
"If they've aced what they've done and they're really good at it and really they want to do more, I give them that opportunity to do more," Vince said before adding that it's easy to find another person to fill her shows. "Quite frankly, anybody can be a ring announcer."
Jonathan Coachman talked about his time on screen. He stated that he even worked as a ring announcer at times and had many roles in WWE. He was surprised that Samantha Irvin did not use the platform to launch her music career. He noted that it was one of the easiest things to do in WWE.
"It's the greatest gig ever," The Coach stated.
Samantha Irvin followed her fiance Ricochet out of the company this year. However, she probably won’t be joining AEW like The One and Only.
Samantha Irvin took to X to reveal the reason behind her WWE exit
Many believed Samantha Irvin was the best ring announcer in the company’s history. However, the star shocked many by announcing her exit.
In a recent exchange on X, she noted that she never liked announcing. Instead, she wanted to be a manager or a general manager in the company. However, the company did not see any future for her other than announcing.
"I don’t like announcing, I’m serious! Announcing was only supposed to be my way in. I wanted to manage, maybe even become a general manager one day. But WWE saw no other future for me besides announcer. I love watching the action, but I don’t love being an announcer,” wrote Samantha Irvin.
While Samantha could have stayed on in the Stamford-based promotion to receive her paycheck and work on her other projects, she decided to leave the company.
