Charlotte Flair has been away from WWE since early December 2023, after a brutal injury forced her to take time off. Asuka suffered a similar fate, albeit a few months later. Both women are currently on the shelf. In recent weeks, The Queen's imminent return has been pointed to as a major possibility. But in the case of the Empress of Tomorrow, it is believed she won't be back until next year.

Asuka and Charlotte's careers have crossed paths several times over the years. It was The Queen who handed the Japanese star her first pinfall loss after going undefeated for 914 days in World Wrestling Entertainment. At WrestleMania 34, the 43-year-old submitted to Flair. Later on, they briefly sat atop the women's tag team division.

Taking to Instagram, Asuka reflected on this particular moment in her career which she shared with Charlotte Flair. The two went on to become the Women's Tag Team Champions in 2020. At the TLC pay-per-view, they defeated Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler in a match that went a little over 10 minutes, to win the tag titles.

"4 years ago at WWE TLC 💞," wrote Asuka.

Charlotte Flair is reportedly earmarked for a top spot at WrestleMania 41 against current Ms. Money in the Bank, Tiffany Stratton. It remains to be seen if The Buff Barbie cashes in her contract between now and The Show of Shows in April.

Is Charlotte Flair going to return as a heel or babyface? Veteran weighs in on major WWE storyline

One of the biggest angles in the women's division heading into the new year is: what happened to Jade Cargill?

She and her tag team partner, Bianca Belair, were set to compete at Survivor Series: WarGames in the titular bout. However, The Storm was found battered backstage a few weeks before the PLE, which led to WWE replacing her with Bayley.

According to the inaugural Women's United States Champion Chelsea Green, The EST is behind the attack. However, wrestling veteran Konnan has another theory.

The veteran noted on his podcast recently that Charlotte Flair could return as a heel and be revealed as Jade Cargill's attacker. Although it will be out of left field, a sentiment the WWE Universe could agree upon is that as a heel, The Queen is in her element.
