Asuka shared a cryptic tease ahead of tonight's episode of WWE SmackDown in Buffalo, New York. The veteran is currently out of action with an injury sustained earlier this year.

The former champion has not competed in a match since defending the Women's Tag Team Championships alongside Kairi Sane (The Kabuki Warriors) against Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair at WWE Backlash 2024. She has been out with a knee injury, but took to social media today to share a cryptic message.

Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill recently wondered who could stop them following their successful defense of the Women's Tag Team Championships at Crown Jewel. The Empress of Tomorrow seemingly responded on social media and shared an image of herself holding the title. She also included the iconic "I'll be back" catchphrase from The Terminator as seen in the video below.

The 43-year-old is a member of Damage CTRL on WWE RAW and her stablemate, IYO SKY, won a Battle Royal this past Monday night to become the number one contender for Liv Morgan's Women's World Championship.

WWE RAW star names Asuka as her favorite opponent

Pure Fusion Collective's Sonya Deville recently disclosed that Asuka was her dream opponent in the company.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet on an episode of the INSIGHT podcast, Deville noted that she had never had a singles match on the main roster against the Damage CTRL star. She added that they have had some great matches in NXT, but haven't had a storyline on the main roster:

“I’ve had a million matches with her but not a lot televised, and never a singles televised to my knowledge. Asuka is one of my favorite opponents. We would have awesome matches down in NXT seven years ago, eight years ago on live events and road loops. And it was my favourite match to this day, but we never got an angle on TV," said Deville.

WWE Women's Champion Nia Jax recently shared that Asuka was one of her toughest opponents, and she cannot wait for her to return to the ring.
