Grammy Award winner Bad Bunny survived kendo sticks and chair shots to score a remarkable victory over WWE's Damian Priest at Backlash in 2023. Puerto Rico was honored to host the premium live event that year and the hometown heroes made the most of the opportunity.
Despite a fantastic showing inside the squared circle, Bad Bunny disappeared after his match with the former World Heavyweight Champion. He has now introspected about his future in World Wrestling Entertainment.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, the 30-year-old revealed that he hopes to get back in the ring soon, joking that he wants to scare his mother by taking higher risks the next time. His previous showing was in a 'San Juan Street Fight' match, which meant anything goes:
"I want to do it one more time. I want to put my life at risk in the ring. I felt like I didn’t risk it enough in the ring, and I want to do it. I want to scare my mother. When? I don’t know. We stay in contact with the people at WWE, we’re always paying attention to what’s going on. But when, I don’t know. I hope there’s a time where I can really get ready, like I did the last few times. And I’d love to take more time to get ready physically."
In 2023, Bad Bunny and Damian Priest were in a grudge feud. Their issues began after Priest joined The Judgment Day and the musician got involved in the Dominik Mysterio vs. Rey Mysterio match at WrestleMania 39.
Bad Bunny hopes to bring the fight to WWE soon but with a twist
Backlash in Puerto Rico was not Bad Bunny's first rodeo. He scored a pinfall victory alongside Damian Priest against former WWE Champion The Miz and John Morrison at WrestleMania 37.
In this match and his singles contest with the former Judgment Day star, Bad Bunny was the default babyface because of his popularity. However, he revealed that sometimes he thinks about leaving the music industry and pursuing a full-time WWE career, adding that he would rather be a heel:
"But man, just like in music, I do this to get better and to do something different. Sometimes, I say, 'I’m going to quit everything and just do wrestling full-time.' I feel like in wrestling, I just go sporadically as a celebrity. I’m going to go full-time and be a heel. That’s what I’d love. [Laughs.] I was always a fan of the villains more than the good guys."
Bad Bunny has proved that he belongs in the wrestling world with his impeccable performances in the ring. WWE CCO Triple H praised the Grammy award winner recently, noting that he could be a star in the company should he do it more often.
