Bayley brings up 7-year-old grudge over horrible injury that forced her to miss show

WWE Superstar Bayley has recently been increasingly ambushed by all of her opponents. Almost every SmackDown appearance sees the Women’s Champion getting attacked, reaching the infirmary, and then fighting her attacker later. This time, however, The Role Model is confronting a nemesis with whom she has a seven-year-old grudge.

Nia Jax defeated Lyra Valkyria in Jeddah to win the Queen of the Ring Tournament and earn a shot at Bayley’s championship. On the July 12, 2024, edition of SmackDown, Jax confronted The Hugger and reminded her of a 2017 incident where Jax had wrecked her. Now, the reigning WWE Women's Champion has responded by posting on Instagram and sending a message to The Irresistible Force.

“It’s gotta mean something to you #summerslam.”

The post carries images of Bayley lying beaten, Jax attacking her, and a picture of Bayley with her hand in a cast. It also carried the screengrab of a news article informing fans that The Hugger was ruled out of the 2017 edition of SummerSlam, followed by the poster of her 2024 match against Jax.

But, while The Role Model has brought up this grudge and marked her target, she could be facing the hardest title defense of her career at Cleveland.

Why does Bayley have very small odds of retaining her title?

On August 3, 2024, Bayley will be face to face against her nemesis Nia Jax in a gritty title defense. While The Irresistible Force is a powerful foe on her own, she will have Miss Money in the Bank Tiffany Stratton on her side as well. However, while Stratton and Jax are obvious threats to The Role Model, she may also have a backstabber in her camp.

Tiffany Stratton previously fought The Role Model for her title in a Triple Threat match at Backlash. The third competitor in the match was Bayley’s ally Naomi, who lost the match despite being very close to victory. Thus, The Glow could be harboring a lot of frustration which may have increased following her MITB loss.

Hence, the WWE Women’s Champion has a total of three wrestlers to worry about. This turns her situation from a singles match to a makeshift Fatal Four-Way encounter. It would be interesting to see how she emerges out of this challenge.
