The backstage atmosphere at WWE's weekly events can be hectic at times, but this usually makes for very interesting behind-the-scenes stories. Bayley had one of these rare moments just this month. The fan-favorite superstar is now opening up on a recent history-making moment for the company, and what she was busy doing at the time.
Nick Aldis recently revealed the brand-new WWE Women's United States Championship. The inaugural champion will be crowned at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 14 from Long Island, NY. Bayley was chosen to compete in the Women's United States Championship Tournament, along with Candice LeRae, B-Fab, Bianca Belair, Chelsea Green, Blair Davenport, Jade Cargill, Mia Yim, Piper Niven, Naomi, Tiffany Stratton, and Elektra Lopez.
The Role Model has revealed that everyone was surprised by the SmackDown General Manager's championship announcement on the November 8 episode. Speaking to Headliner Chicago, Bayley recalled being in a backstage meeting with one of her bosses at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo when Aldis' announcement began. She asked to pause the meeting.
"Nobody knew that was happening. So, in a way, it was really cool to be surprised. I was just happy that I was in front of a monitor when it happened. I was in the middle of a meeting with one of my bosses and it just popped up. I heard Nick Aldis talk about the women, and I said, 'Whoa. Hold on, please. Can we just watch this real quick?' I'm so happy I caught it. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been around a monitor, because there's so much going on. I'm really excited for all of us," Bayley said. [H/T - Fightful]
