WWE Women's Champion Bayley got to have a career highlight over the weekend, as part of the company's tour of Japan. She has since reflected on that moment and recently penned an emotional message on Instagram.

The Role Model defended her Women's Title against legendary Japanese star Meiko Satomura at WWE's second live event in Tokyo on Saturday. This came a day after the former NXT UK Women's Champion announced that she would retire from wrestling in 2025.

Taking to her official Instagram handle, Bayley thanked Meiko for the match. The WWE Women's Champion also stated gratitude for being in the same locker room as the 44-year-old legend:

"Thank you Satomura-san. I’m eternally grateful for not only the path you’ve paved for women’s wrestling in Japan and around the world, but I’m so grateful for your grace and respect this past week. Sharing a locker room and a ring with you was something I will carry with me for as long as I’m in this business. It was an absolute honor," wrote Bayley.

A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.

The Role Model further opened up about moments of self-doubt during her title reign and how her match against Satomura changed that:

"Selfishly, I really needed this one. Even as a current champion there comes times of doubt and the feeling of not believing in myself. Because….this sh*t is hard. But this night in Tokyo, Japan vs Meiko changed all that. This match was an example of what I love about pro wrestling. The feeling inside the ring when nothing else matters but that moment, the feeling of what it meant to the fans watching in the building. It was a special reminder for myself of how far I’ve come and that I have so much more to give," she added.

It isn't known if Meiko Satomura will wrestle on any televised WWE shows ahead of her retirement in April 2025.

Bayley has a big challenge waiting for her at WWE SummerSlam

Things won't get easier for Bayley as WWE Women's Champion. The Role Model has a mighty task ahead of her at SummerSlam, with Nia Jax next to challenge for the title. She earned the opportunity by winning this year's Queen of the Ring tournament.

It will be interesting to see how Bayley fights her way out of this situation, if she is even able to. Jax might very well win the WWE Women's Title at SummerSlam, which would set up an interesting dynamic between her and Miss Money in the Bank, Tiffany Stratton. The two have formed an alliance recently.
