Big E announces major new WWE role following New Day betrayal

Big E revealed a major new WWE role today after he was betrayed by The New Day last month on RAW. The former WWE Champion returned on the December 2, 2024, episode of the red brand to offer to be Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods' manager, but it did not go as planned.

The New Day turned heel and refused Big E's offer to reunite with them as their manager. Woods and Kingston have since been booed by wrestling fans whenever they appear on WWE RAW.

Big E took to social media today to reveal that he is the host of RAW Classics on Netflix, and the show is available to watch on the streaming platform now.

"Witness a boatload of the greatest moments in Monday Night Raw history on #RAWClassics! Hosted by me! Available NOW on @netflix!" he wrote.

The former New Day member has not been in action since he suffered a broken neck on the March 11, 2022, episode of SmackDown. He has worked as an analyst for the promotion during the kick-off shows for premium live events during his time away from the ring and was recently featured in the Laid TV series on Peacock.

WWE Hall of Famer comments on Big E's potential return to the ring

Wrestling legend Teddy Long recently shared his thoughts on Big E attempting to return to the ring in the future.

Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine podcast, Long stated that it will be up to the former champion and his doctors to decide if he can return to action. The WWE veteran added that both Kurt Angle and Edge eventually chose to wrestle again after suffering a broken neck.

"Well, that's gonna kinda be left up to Big E and his doctors," Long said. "He's on that maybe I guess that [no-touch] list, I don't know whether he's cleared or not. It may be where E, it's up to you, you take your chances. I think Kurt Angle did that. I think he had been advised not to wrestle anymore, and I think if I can remember, I think that was with Edge also, that he had been advised to not compete anymore. And him and Kurt both, they got back in the ring, they took their chances." [From 05:24 – 05:55]

The New Day was kicked out of the locker room after betraying the 38-year-old last month on WWE RAW. Only time will tell if the two-time Intercontinental Champion will return to the ring down the line.
