One of the most shocking moments in WWE history occurred during this week's RAW when Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods celebrated ten years of The New Day. Big E made a surprise return to try and keep his friends together on the same page, stating that he would work as their manager moving forward.
However, rather than welcoming the former WWE Champion, Woods and Kingston questioned his decision to come back when their faction was seemingly on the path to disband. Both men then asked Big E to leave, suggesting the latter's exit from the faction, leaving the pro wrestling world disheartened.
Big E's former tag team partner, Dolph Ziggler, addressed The New Day's betrayal on a recent episode of the Busted Open Podcast. The former WWE Champion heaped praise on the Stamford-based company for using a very new approach to mark the heel turn.
"Desk job's supposed to be the death blow to anyone in a physical business. Whether you're a cop and they're like 'Ah, you're forced to sit at a desk to get punished.' Or if you're an athlete and you've got to sit down and talk. That's supposed to be the biggest shame. But you know what was fun and what's... real? 'Your girlfriend.' That's not the main part of the story, but when he says 'Your outside business. You're doing some other thing. Your projects. Your girlfriend...'" said Ziggler.

He continued:
"People know that that person exists in real life. And it's not just being said. We've all been there to when your buddy that goes out with you every Friday all of a sudden says 'Well, I can't come out on Friday. I got this new girlfriend...' So, just that little piece of 'You're too busy doing your own stuff, and now you want to come help us when we're ready to jump off a cliff? Now you want to come help us?' These are all realistic points that make it the most believable bad guy thing," he further added. [H/T - WrestlingInc.]
Will Big E continue to try to be a part of The New Day in the future?
After the shocking betrayal by Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston on RAW, it is clear that Big E's stint in the New Day is over. However, his in-ring return status is yet to be known. With fans anticipating the former WWE Champion to return to the squared circle soon, it is expected that Big E would take revenge on The New Day in the future.
While Big E's return date is yet to be revealed, a match between the members of the faction would be justified only on a grand stage like WrestleMania. Time will tell what WWE has in store for The New Day in the future.
