Fans witnessed one of the most astonishing endings in SmackDown history as The Bloodline carried out what may have been their most ruthless betrayal yet. The oldest member of the group was carried out on a stretcher as SmackDown went off the air.

Just as a warning - this article contains spoilers.

The end of SmackDown saw an acknowledgment ceremony where all the recent Bloodline additions - Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Jacob Fatu, acknowledged Solo Sikoa as their Tribal Chief. The only man who couldn't do it was the 58-year-old Paul Heyman, the oldest member of The Bloodline and The Wiseman.

Heyman was taken out in a vicious assault and sent through the table, and Solo Sikoa and his family members watched on as the WWE Hall of Famer was stretchered out of the arena after the show went off the air.

New York is a place that's near and dear to Paul Heyman as he grew up in a Northern Suburb named Scarsdale. Just like Drew McIntyre in Scotland and CM Punk in Chicago, Heyman was the next victim of the hometown curse.

However, this was an unprecedented kind of assault as Heyman's association with the legendary Samoan family seems to have been severed.

What lies ahead will be interesting to see. The "We want Roman" chants are getting louder every week.
