After a noteworthy run in WWE, Bobby Lashley left the company and pursued a mixed-martial arts career, and found success there, too. Upon his return to the Stamford-based promotion in 2018, Lashley was presented as a beast in the ring. And with his natural look of a star, The All Mighty managed to win the top prize of the company twice.
Lately, though, a lot of speculation has been going around regarding Bobby Lashley's status with WWE. Many believe he will leave in order to reform The Hurt Business outside the global juggernaut, with AEW being a likely destination. His former manager MVP has already seemingly left the Stamford-based promotion for good.
During a sit-down interview on The Laboratory with Plaz, Lashley was asked what was going on with him and WWE. The All Mighty responded by talking more about the freak injury he picked up during a match in France that needed surgery.
Although he had been told initially that he'd be out for six months, the veteran said his recovery and rehab had come along exceptionally well and he was expecting to be cleared within the next month. He said he would address his status with the company upon his return.
Former WWE writer buries Judgment Day HERE
"I can tell you this. I had surgery. A little boo boo, happened in France during a match. Just a freak accident. They told me I wasn't supposed to be back for six months. Six weeks, I have the brace off, working out. My physical therapist was like, 'You're not supposed to be able to do that.' 'I'm different.' I'm working out and lifting. I don't think I'm two months out of surgery now and I'm hitting it pretty hard. I think I'll be ready and cleared in less than a month. At that time, we'll see what happens," he said. Lashley also candidly spoke about his relationship with current WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque.
Bobby Lashley had a better relationship with the former WWE Chairman than Triple H
In his first stint with WWE between 2005 and 2008, Bobby Lashley, The Undertaker, and John Cena headlined WrestleMania 23 as world champions of their respective brands. Furthermore, Lashley worked a storyline with Vince McMahon himself at the event, which lasted a few more months.
He admitted that he was comfortable when McMahon was still in charge because the latter saw him as a star and was confident in his skillset and appeal to a wider audience. He added that Triple H had a circle and he was not a part of it, but it was not for lack of trying.
"He [Vince McMahon] looked at me like a star. I like Vince. I haven't really had too much of a connection with Hunter. Hunter has his guys. I've tried to, but we haven't really worked enough together to get to know each other," said Lashley. [From 54:22 to 54:42]
Bobby Lashley was last seen on SmackDown in April, where he and Santos Escobar lost a triple threat number one contender's match to LA Knight.
