Booker T knows a thing or two about WWE and the wrestling business. The Hall of Famer recently spoke about why he thinks the company may have decided to part ways with a four-time champion.
Ricochet became the inaugural WWE Speed Champion before he decided to part with the company. He let his contract expire before heading into the unknown to keep his fans guessing.
During his six-year tenure with the company, The One and Only did win a few mid-card titles. However, many believed that the company did not use him to his full potential, and Booker T recently spoke about how WWE did not utilize Ricochet in the best possible way on his Hall of Fame podcast.
"When I first saw Ricochet do something that was one of the most amazing things I'd ever seen... I really don't think we got a chance to really see it in WWE."

He added that it won’t be difficult for The One and Only to get signed elsewhere. He also revealed that the creative team may have let him go as he may have not fit into their programming stylistically.
"I was always high on Ricochet. I just think Ricochet stylistically might not have been a match up for the WWE." [16:09 - 18:25]
Booker T added that even someone like Finn Balor had to tone himself down and work hard to fit into the company’s programming. He noted that Balor seems to have finally found himself after working with Judgment Day for several months.
The company could have worked hard to keep the four-time champion by offering him a bigger contract or better opportunities. However, both sides decided that it was best to part ways.
Booker T thinks Ricochet will be a big hit outside WWE
A few companies may already be planning to bag Ricochet almost immediately. AEW could be one of the bigger names that sign The One and Only, along with TNA.
On the Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T noted that it would be easy for the former Intercontinental Champion to get signed by a top promotion.
"Ricochet seems to be [heading] towards AEW and the thing is, I can see that or Japan, he'll definitely be a big hit in Japan or TNA. He'll be hit wherever he goes," said Booker.
It’ll be great to see Ricochet get the opportunities he deserves outside the Stamford-based wrestling promotion. That could make him a bigger star than he already was.
