One of the biggest dream matches in WWE today is Gunther facing off against Brock Lesnar. Wrestling legend Magnum T.A. believes that Lesnar is a perfect opponent for The Ring General if he returns to television.
The Beast has been absent for more than a year since losing to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2023. He was rumored to return around Royal Rumble in January, but the plans were seemingly scrapped due to a lawsuit against Vince McMahon.
There were even rumors of Gunther vs. Brock Lesnar possibly happening, but it didn't come to fruition. Magnum T.A. said on his Straight Talk With The Boss podcast that he wanted to see Lesnar back in WWE and wrestle the big Austrian star inside the squared circle in what could be a hard-hitting bout.
"I'd love to see him and Brock Lesnar. Gunther and Brock, I think, would be huge money. [Gunther] got to have somebody that can carry on that physicality with him and Cody [Rhodes] brought the physicality to him by ways of the old school wrestling and very solid wrestling. It wasn't just bangs and chops and things like that. It was just very solid methodical wrestling and the right cat in there with him has got to be perceived to be kind of the total package of bringing all that to the dance," Magnum T.A. said. Despite the speculation, there was no confirmation on when Lesnar would return to the squared circle.
Gunther still wants to face Brock Lesnar
Amid rumors of his potential showdown with Brock Lesnar in May, Gunther confirmed to the Daily Mail that he wanted to face the WWE legend. He described The Beast as his "final boss" and even compared himself to the multi-time world champion.
"I always saw Brock as my final boss. I always get portrayed as that, as the NXT UK Champion, the Intercontinental Champion, I was like the final boss of that division, and Brock, for a long time, was the final boss of the whole company. So I always saw myself in my future to be in a similar position to him, and to be that you've got to get in the ring with that guy," Gunther said.
The Ring General acknowledged the difficulty of bringing back Lesnar, seemingly alluding to the situation involving Vince McMahon and Janel Grant.
