Carmella has not been seen on WWE television for more than 600 days since going on maternity leave. The former SmackDown Women's Champion recently shared an unfortunate update regarding her health on social media.
The Princess of Staten Island last appeared on the March 13, 2023, episode of WWE RAW. She took a leave of absence after announcing that she was expecting a baby with her husband and WWE color commentator, Corey Graves.
Carmella gave birth to a son named Dimitri Paul on November 8, 2023. She has remained on hiatus for more than a year since she went on maternity leave. There has not been any information as to why she still hasn't been cleared to return, but she did open up about some complications during her delivery.
In a post on her Instagram account, the former Laker girl shared that she was getting an MRI to get some answers to her current foot injury.
"Back at it... Trying to get some answers for this foot," she wrote along with the picture below.
The four-time WWE 24/7 Champion last wrestled on March 12, 2023, in a live event at Madison Square Garden. She teamed up with Bayley, Dakota Kai, IYO SKY, and Piper Niven and lost to Becky Lynch, Asuka, Bianca Belair, Nikki Cross, and Candice LeRae.
Carmella still dealing with complications from her pregnancy
Speaking on The Nikki & Brie Show last May, Carmella opened up about dealing with a complication called a 'Foot Drop' after the delivery of her son. She supposedly suffered nerve damage to her foot during labor, which is one of the reasons why she hasn't returned to wrestling yet.
"Unfortunately, I've been dealing with, what is called drop foot. I have an injury from labor and delivery and pushing the baby out. I have herniated discs in my back, which push on this nerve that is connected to my right foot. The top of my foot, it's hard to lift. I'm literally limping around everywhere. It's gotten better, but I've been wrestling for 11 years, and other than some concussions, knock on wood, never had any injuries. Now, I have a major injury from delivering my son," the former SmackDown Women's Champion said. [H/T - Fightful]
It's unclear if the WWE star was dealing with the same injury or if it is a new one. Nevertheless, we at Sportskeeda Wrestling are hoping for her full recovery at the earliest.
