Carmelo Hayes collided with former AEW wrestler Andrade in a singles match for the first time ever on the latest episode of WWE SmackDown. He confronted the latter last week on the blue brand, which set up the bout.
The former United States Champion was involved in an interview with Byron Saxton last week, which took place in an empty arena before the show went on the air. He was asked what was next for him in WWE, and while he was speaking, Hayes interrupted him. El Idolo ended the interview by saying that Hayes was what was next for him.
Andrade took down Carmelo Hayes after the bell rang and the latter went for a hurricanrana but it was reversed. El Idolo hit a big boot and Melo countered with a dropkick. Hayes nailed his opponent with a leg drop off the turnbuckle while he was hanging on the ropes. Later on, Andrade rocked Carmelo Hayes with a big clothesline and the two stars exchanged strikes in the ring.
Andrade tried to hit his finisher but Carmelo reversed it into a facebuster and got a two-count. The former AEW star hit a moonsault but only got a two-count. Hayes caught Andrade with a Codebreaker off the top rope and went for Nothing But Net but Andrade evaded it. Finally, El Idolo hit The Message and won the match.
