WWE has had a great year in terms of bringing younger stars to the forefront, and Rhea Ripley certainly falls in that category. She recently earned some well-deserved praise from a veteran for her work.
The Eradicator has had an eventful run so far in 2024. Her reign as the Women's World Champion was a sight to behold, as she defended it from high-profile names like Nia Jax and Becky Lynch. It was only through a series of planned distractions that Liv was able to take the title from her.
On Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine hosted by Mac Davis, legendary wrestling journalist Bill Apter praised her rise through the ranks.
"To me Rhea Ripley changed the tide, the riptide there. Rhea Ripley redefined the female end of WWE and I would say there are a lot of other women in there that did incredible, including Teddy's pick Nia Jax. Liv Morgan also, way up there, and so many of them... Rhea is, people expect to see her. She became a household face in the pro-wrestling business in 2024." [8:55 onwards]
Bill Apter also praised another WWE star's work in 2024
According to Bill Apter, another name that deserves mention this year is Gunther.
Speaking on the same episode of The Wrestling Time Machine hosted by Mac Davis, the veteran journalist praised the Ring General's rise to the top. Apter believes that Gunther has had the strongest impact in 2024.
"That's a hard thing to say the best. I think the person that made the biggest impression on WWE coming from somewhere where you know... Would have to be Gunther. I mean, who saw that coming that he would become the World Heavyweight wrestling champion, and he carries himself like a World Heavyweight wrestling champion." [5:52 onwards]
Fans will have to see what is next for Gunther down the line in WWE.
