Charlotte Flair reunites with former WWE star ahead of SmackDown

Charlotte Flair reunited with a former WWE star ahead of tonight's episode of SmackDown. The veteran did not compete in a single match in 2024 due to suffering a torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus on the December 8, 2023, episode of the blue brand.

Ahead of tonight's edition of SmackDown, Flair took to her X (fka Twitter) account to share a major reunion. The former champion posted a picture of herself, Kiana James, and former WWE star Cassie Lee (Peyton Royce of The IIconics). The photo was taken at Flatback Wrestling School, which is run by Lee's husband, NXT star Shawn Spears, and Tyler Breeze. James is currently out of action with a major injury as well.

Cassie Lee spent six years in WWE as Peyton Royce and was part of a popular tag team with Billie Kay known as The IIConics. However, the former Women's Tag Team Champions were released by the promotion on April 15, 2021.

Bill Apter believes Charlotte Flair will return to WWE with a new character

Legendary wrestling journalist Bill Apter recently stated that he believed the company would repackage Charlotte Flair when she was ready to return to action.

Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Time Machine, Apter predicted that Flair would return with a new presentation. He noted that who she worked with would depend on what her new character would be. Apter also pointed out that Ric Flair recently claimed that his daughter was better than him as a wrestler.

"They are gonna repackage Charlotte. It's gonna be a different presentation. So, in terms of who they are gonna put her with, it depends what this possible new Charlotte character might be. By the way, on a broadcast on Busted Open this past week, Ric Flair said that his daughter Charlotte is probably even greater than him," Apter said. [7:56 onwards]

Charlotte Flair suffered her major injury in a match against Damage CTRL's Asuka. The Empress of Tomorrow has also been out of action for several months with a knee injury she suffered last year. It will be interesting to see when Charlotte Flair finally makes her return to WWE television.
